Lucknow Super Giants all-rounder Krunal Pandya has said that he took a cue from the first innings and batted accordingly against SunRisers Hyderabad. However, his comments came after Lucknow Super Giants beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 wickets in the 10th Match of the IPL 2023. Krunal was adjudged the Player of the Match as he stepped up with both the bat and the ball.

Notably, Krunal Pandya picked up three wickets while conceding just 18 runs in four overs. He also added that he felt good and this year he is in a good headspace too.

Krunal Pandya said: “Very good day at the office I can say. Both (what he enjoyed more?). Runs, wickets – everything is hard-earned. Everything is special. More right-handers in their lineup – knew I would be bowling four overs. This year I’m in a good headspace. Once you have clarity up there, things fall in places.”

While talking about his performance in the IPL 2023, he added that he doesn’t think much about results as well. He also revealed that he took a break for some time to work on his game only.

He added: “I’m very process-driven, don’t think about results. I took a break from cricket for a few months because I was just playing the white-ball formats, so wanted some time off to work on my bowling. What happened last two-three years was I kept getting wider and wider. Whatever I did in the last 3-4 months – getting taller and getting the ball to turn away, it is all coming out really well. People say I don’t turn the ball, so that answers it I guess (Markram wicket).”

“I’m okay with any track” – Krunal Pandya

However, he also shared that his wife has been a constant support in his career and he dedicated the award to her as well.

“I’m trying to recollect how I played in the first 4-5 years in IPL where I was batting at four for MI. Trying to find that rhythm and consistency. Having the clarity helps. I’m okay with any track. Don’t mind if I get a MoM. Want to dedicate this to my wife. She has been a constant support, she is who brings out the best version of myself,” Krunal Pandya concluded.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul, the Lucknow Super Giants captain was happy after the win.

“Yesterday (when did he know how the pitch would play?). We’ve been here for a couple of weeks now. Knew what we were getting into (nature of the pitch). Even when Jaydev bowled a few cutters, it was gripping. Was a no-brainer to bowl spin early. First instinct when I saw both pitches was that we’ll need to bat smartly here. We’ve adapted well as a batting unit. Each person plays very differently. Just have been a couple of chats with the batting group to help each other out. Good to see the players are going there and putting in the practice,” he said.
