IPL 2022 Mega Auction: List of Players Who Were Bought for Rs 10 Crore and Above

The two-day IPL Mega Auction ended on Sunday with 204 players being bought by the franchises but many players ended up with a whopping price of Rs 10 crore or over.

The IPL 2022 Mega Auction saw intense and dramatic action on both days. On Saturday, there was immense bidding for the marquee player sets and records were broken. On Sunday, the action was not that intense but teams were involved in filling up some key slots. The action on Saturday saw Ishan Kishan break the bank and go for a record 15.25 crore to Mumbai Indians. He was the second-most expensive Indian in the history of the IPL Auction behind Yuvraj Singh’s Rs 16 crore bid.

There were other major developments as well. Deepak Chahar was bought for Rs 14 crore by Chennai Super Kings. This was the first time in the history of the IPL Auction that Chennai Super Kings had spent over Rs 10 crore for a particular player. There were other major players who were sold for over Rs 10 crore. Fast bowlers and all-rounders, in particular, were in major demand in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

IPL 2022 Mega Auction Strengths, Surprises and Decision of Franchises

There were some surprises in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Suresh Raina, who has been one of the stars of the Indian Premier League, was unsold and this might be the last time we see him in any form of cricket. David Warner, who has been associated with Sunrisers Hyderabad for seven-eight years, returned back to Delhi for Rs 6.25 crore. Warner will open for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022.

Shreyas Iyer became the first person to breach the Rs 10 crore mark as he went to Kolkata Knight Riders. But, the acquisition of Ajinkya Rahane for Rs 1 crore seems to suggest that Kolkata Knight Riders are looking at him as a captaincy option. The bowling all-rounders and fast bowlers had a field day in the IPL 2022. Wanindu Hasaranga, Liam Livingstone were all big buys in the IPL 2022 Auction.

In the pace bowling department, the likes of Lockie Ferguson, Josh Hazlewood, and Prasidh Krishna all had a great run in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. With 10 teams and new players in the fray for IPL 2022, the tournament will get a new dimension altogether. The IPL 2022 tournament could be held in Mumbai and Pune from March 27. The BCCI is yet to come out with the official dates and venues of the tournament.
