Punjab Kings have some magnificent players but they have failed to make it to the playoffs of the IPL in the last few seasons.
Punjab Kings have a top order that has KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran. In IPL 2020, they had the services of Glenn Maxwell. With a powerful batting line-up and bowling, Punjab Kings were expected to dominate IPL 2020. However, that did not happen. Maxwell did not hit a single six. Punjab Kings were undone by two unlucky incidents. In the game against Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings were blown away by a 30-run over blitz from Rahul Tewatia. Against Delhi Capitals, Chris Jordan was wrongfully ruled one-run short. They lost two wickets in the last over to lose in the Super Over.
With a new name in IPL 2021, Punjab Kings would be hoping for a change of fortune in IPL 2021 just like how the Delhi Capitals had their changes in fortune when they changed from the Delhi Daredevils. Punjab Kings made some good buys in the IPL 2021 auction along with Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Punjab Kings would be hoping all their components click and they put in a great performance in IPL 2021.
