IPL 2021: Most century makers in the IPL over the years: Hitting a century in cricket is a record of its own, be it any format– ODIs, Test or even in the Indian Premier League. However, since IPL has had a glorious 13 years, even the number century hitters have achieved this feat more than once, and the numbers are just impressive.

Here is a list of the cricketers who have hit the most number of centuries in IPL before IPL 2021:

Chris Gayle

Since IPL’s last season ended a few months back, there have been new records, and even amid the pandemic, Chris Gayle hasn’t failed to entertain the fans. With six centuries and 4782 runs in 132 matches, Gayle tops the list. After conquering the Bangalore crowds for RCB, Gayle made a move to Kings XI Punjab in 2018 and made an instant impact with a century against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, he seems to be stuck at the 99 mark for a long while now (two seasons), having been 99 not out in the 2019 addition of the IPL, and just failing to make it over the line in 2020, after getting out on 99.

Virat Kohli

Coming second on this list is one of the most loved Indian players, and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s captain– Virat Kohli. With five centuries in 192 matches, and a total of 5878 runs, Kohli has time and again proved why he’s called the Run Machine. In 2008, Kohli became a part of the RCB squad and started leading the side in the year 2013. In the year 2016, he was one of the top run-scorers, thereby donning the Orange Cap at the end of the ninth edition of the league.

David Warner

Third on this list is Sunrisers Hyderabad’s David Warner. With four centuries in 142 matches and a total of 5254 runs, Warner has time and again proved why he is the Captain for his side. David Warner captained SRH to their maiden tournament win in 2016. He was also the second-highest run-scorer when they won the season and had scored 848 runs at a strike rate of 151.42.

Shane Watson

This Australian player comes in on fourth spot. With a captain like Dhoni, Watson has had a remarkable record on the field. Not just Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings, Watson has been a part of the Rajasthan Royals, RCB, but it is safe to say he had found home in CSK. Having scored 3874 runs in 145 matches, Watson has a total of four centuries under his belt.

AB de Villiers

Another RCB player making his way to this list is AB de Villiers. With 4849 runs in 169 matches, AB has a total of three centuries under his belt. With a number of tricks under his sleeve, AB is known for being a one man army on a good day, with the capacity to win his side matches single-handedly.

Honourable mentions before IPL 2021

Some honourable mentions in the list are Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinke Rahane, Brendon McCullum, Virender Sehwag, who have all scored two centuries in the IPL.
