Sunrisers Hyderabad are staring at a unique but dubious first in the Indian Premier League. Ever since 2013, when the franchise was first formed, the side has never lost the first three games of the IPL. With narrow losses to Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad face an uphill task against Mumbai Indians. In retrospect, Sunrisers Hyderabad might be able to halt the jinx against the five-time champions for a key reason.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are the only team to have an even head-to-head ratio against Mumbai Indians, having won eight and lost eight. But, as David Warner mentioned following their loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be hurting. It will also not be easy against Mumbai Indians, who are now staging a resurgence after their usual opening game loss.

Mumbai Indians have a settled line-up with contributions from every player. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, they are still reliant on individuals. The collapses that they suffered in the first two games will need intense thinking. With Kane Williamson sidelined with an injury, there is plenty that Sunrisers Hyderabad need to think.

Team News

Mumbai Indians might not make many changes. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be seriously tempted to get Williamson in. With the batting heavily reliant on Jonny Bairstow and David Warner, slotting Kane Williamson would mean letting go of Jason Holder as Rashid Khan is a certainty.
