Given the fact that MI are coming after a win and SRH are desperately looking for one, the pressure is heavy on the latter.
Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) take on SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ninth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. MI were defeated in their opening clash of the league campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). However, they got back to winning ways with a triumph against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). SRH on the other hand, have lost both their league matches of the campaign so far. They will face a stern challenge in MI but the Hyderabad-based franchise is well capable of making its presence felt.
Bearing this in mind, let’s take a look at some of the player battles which one should certainly watch out for:
Rohit Sharma can be extremely difficult to dismiss when in good rhythm, as numerous top bowlers will admit. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also quite capable of dismissing the best in the business. This makes the face-off between the players one to watch out for.
The South African opener is quite destructive on his day. Having failed to impress in the game against KKR, De Kock will be looking to make amends against SRH. However, T Natarajan is quite wily at the same time, which will make things quite tough for the South African.
Suryakumar Yadav is an excellent batsman, with his innovative strokeplay quite exciting in nature. Rashid Khan has however managed to get the better of most batsmen out there. Can he maintain the impact against Suryakumar?
David Warner scored a half-century in SRH’s previous league match against KKR. Warner looked in great touch and will be eager to maintain the momentum against MI. However, Jasprit Bumrah stands in his way.
Jonny Bairstow is one of the best batsmen in the IPL, with his astounding strokeplay and confident approach. He might well be pushed into a sea of uncertainty against a bowler of the class of Trent Boult.
