Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Faf du Plessis has been one of the key performers for the franchise over the years. He plays with proper conviction and flair, which is certainly quite special. It is quite difficult to dismiss the 36-year-old once he settles in. His ability to analyse the pitch is brilliant, making the South African batsman a dangerous prospect for bowlers all around the globe. The 36-year-old has been a reliable player for the Proteas across all formats as well.

However, even the best in the world have a weak spot. Du Plessis has been troubled quite a lot in the IPL, especially by bowlers who can swing it both ways. The same factor came back to haunt the South African on Saturday, during the second match of IPL 2021 where he was representing CSK against Delhi Capitals (DC). Avesh Khan became the fourth bowler to dismiss Du Plessis for a duck in the history of the cash-rich league.

Avesh’s height and long strides gave him that extra pace and bounce, while the ball was swinging at the Wankhede. Du Plessis was caught plumb after the ball beautifully made its way from the pacer’s hands.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the first bowler to dismiss the South African for a duck in the 2014 edition of the IPL. Many top-class batsmen have fallen victim to the lethal swing Bhuvneshwar gets, Du Plessis was no exception.

Mitchell Johnson was another bowler who managed to get rid of the South African for a duck, in the same season as Bhuvneshwar. Johnson was a fierce bowler who used to torch the batsmen with his quick pace and bounce.

Sandeep Sharma, the player who represents SunRisers Hyderabad is a lot like Bhuvneshwar. He can swing it both ways which troubles the batsmen. Du Plessis was dismissed for his 3rd Duck when Sandeep got rid of him in the previous edition of the IPL ie 2020.

Avesh Khan is the latest addition to the illustrious list.
