Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounders Andre Russell and Sunil Narine shared a message for fans after arriving in India. The duo checked into the team hotel in order to begin their seven-day quarantine. Russell felt closer to the fans, with the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) set to take place in India in 2021.

“We are closer to you guys now, the games are in India. Whether you guys are watching from home or the stands, we will be representing Purple and Gold,” he said as quoted by kkr.in.

“Now is the time when we are going to do what we do best, because we know the bubble. We’re used to this situation, our mindset is already planned for this. Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo,” added the West Indies all-rounder.

Narine expressed his happiness being back in India. “Keep supporting us, no matter what the situation. We are going to go out there and give our best, Hopefully, this year is the year to bring back the Title,” concluded Narine. “Whenever you think about the IPL, you think about India. So, it’s great to be back. Hopefully, we can have a better season than last year.”

Kolkata Knight Riders struggles

KKR failed to make it to the playoffs of IPL 2020, finishing fifth. The two-time champions finished with the same number of points as SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). But, they had an inferior net run rate.

Russell failed to make an impact in IPL 2020, scoring 117 runs and taking for six wickets at an economy rate of 9.72.

Dinesh Karthik, Varun Chakaravarthy, Rahul Tripathi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Sandeep Warrier and Vaibhav Arora are some of the other players from the Kolkata-based franchise who have already arrived.

KKR will kick off their IPL 2021 campaign on April 11 against SunRisers Hyderabad in Chennai.
