The fifth match of the Tri-series will be played at Buffalo Park in East London between South Africa and India on January 28th. Both teams have qualified for the finals after winning two games in the series. While India has defeated both South Africa and the West Indies once in the series thus far, South Africa defeated the West Indies twice to knock them out of the race to the summit clash after losing their first game against India. India and South Africa will meet again in the final on February 2, and the forthcoming game will serve as a warm-up for the two teams.

The Women in Blue are undefeated in the tri-series thus far and will try to continue their winning streak. South Africa, on the other hand, would be seeking to avenge their recent setback against India. In the grand scheme of things, it’s another chance for the sides to hone their preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in the same country in February. India will begin as possible favourites after defeating South Africa in the first round.

players to watch

Smriti Mandhana, India’s vice-captain, has looked in fantastic form thus far in the tri-series. A smooth half-century against the West Indies created the groundwork for a respectable score that the Women in Blue successfully defended. However, when up against a player of Marizanne Kapp’s calibre, things aren’t going to get any easier. The all-rounder is one of South Africa’s most potent new ball weapons, and her ability to swing it upfront makes her a formidable foe. Kapp will be entrusted with cracking the game open, and if the hosts are to take the lead in this match, getting rid of Mandhana early will be critical.

Pitch

The track at Buffalo Park in East London favours spinners the most, making it difficult for batters to put up large numbers. While the spinners will try to make the most of the surface, the batsmen will want to score more than 150, which is considered a winning total. If the captain wins the toss, he or she should bat first.
