India will host South Africa for the first of three-match T20I series at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. The three-match T20I series will be an important preparation for both the sides ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia which will be held in October.
The second and third T20I will take place on October 2 and 4 in Guwahati and Indore respectively. Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the side after their home assignment against Australia while KL Rahul will be his deputy. Temba Bavuma, meanwhile, will lead the visitors who have looked in good touch in this format since 2018. Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram, David Miller, and Quinton de Kock will be some of the key batters for the Proteas in the series.
The first match will be played at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. The stadium has a capacity of holding 50,000 spectators and it has also been host to some domestic football matches. The stadium has, however, hosted only two T20I matches so far.
