India will host South Africa for the five-T20I series starting from June 9. This will be the first-time since 2019 that the two sides will be facing off in a bi-lateral T20I series 2019. The last series ended in a 1-1 draw. The inaugural contest will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The venue for the second match will move to the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack which will be played on June 12 while the final three matches will be hosted in Vizag and Rajkot on the 12th, 14th respectively with the last matched scheduled on 17th in Bengaluru.

The Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) named an 18-member squad for the Twenty20 International (T20I) series against South Africa. Rising fast bowlers Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh who impressed with their respective performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 have been named in the squad which is set to be led by KL Rahul while star batters Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma have been rested from the series. 

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 has allowed Cricket South Africa (CSA) to determine their players better and pick up a strong squad for the five-Twenty20 International (T20I) series against India, starting from June 9. Mumbai Indians youngster Tristan Stubbs has received his maiden Proteas call-up ahead of the highly anticipated contest while Temba Bavuma’s Proteas T20 squad will make a return to international cricket for the first time since the ICC T20 World Cup in late 2021.

India all-formats captain Rohit Sharma is leading run scored in the T20I bi-lateral series. He has accumulated a total of 362 runs from 2007 against South Africa in the shortest format of the game. Former India batter Suresh Raina is second the list with 339 runs from 12 matches which includes a century. South Africa great Jacques Kallis is also on the list with 140 runs in three matches with two half-centuries to his name.
