South Africa began the five-match T20I series with a seven wickets win in the first match and followed it up with a four-wicket victory in the second. However, the hosts bounced back with a 48 runs win in the third T20I before levelling the series with a 82-run victory in the fourth match. The series ended level at 2-2 with the decider being washed out. Both the teams, thus, shared the trophy.
Senior India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar was adjudged the player of the series for his prolific performance with the ball. He ended the series with six wickets from four matches, one-short of his compatriot Harshal Patel’s tally of seven, with an economy of 06.07.
“Really proud. Body feels good, but I don’t want to talk much about it. Just want to focus on getting back stronger physically and with my bowling. Most of the times I bowl two at the top and two at the end. Being a senior, I also think about how to help the youngsters. I have been lucky that the captain gave me the free hand to do whatever I wanted. Pretty blessed in that way,” Kumar said at the post match interview.
