Team India (IND) will host New Zealand (NZ) for a three-match T20I series following a successful ODI series. The first of three games will be contested on January 27th, 2023, at Ranchi’s JSCA International Stadium Complex. While Mitchell Santner will lead the New Zealand team, India all-rounder Hardik Pandya will lead the side once more for the T20I series. T20Is are not going away anytime soon, according to Rohit Sharma. Rahul Dravid is “unaware” of any plans for a split captaincy in India; when asked about it before the third ODI, he told the reporter to check with the selectors. For the time being, however, this is Hardik Pandya’s squad.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, India’s white-ball opening possibility, has been ruled out of the three-match T20I series against New Zealand due to a wrist injury. The 25-year-old has checked into Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy for an assessment of his ailment and subsequent rehabilitation. Gaikwad last played for Maharashtra against Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy. He scored 8 and 0 in that game and later informed the BCCI about his wrist injury. In fact, Gaikwad’s wrist is bothering him for the second time. With a similar ailment, he missed last year’s T20I against Sri Lanka. He also missed last year’s home ODIs against the West Indies after testing positive for Covid.

The Indian middle-order batsman is currently one of the most consistent in the game. His form in the 20-over games has been outstanding, and it is this that has won him the top spot in the ICC rankings. Suryakumar, who is currently on fire, will be the player to watch in the forthcoming encounter against the Kiwis. Kuldeep Yadav will be the one to watch with the pitch being spin-friendly. He has been in good form since rejoining the Indian team and will be expected to take that momentum into the upcoming game.
