India got off to a dream start

Bangladesh won the toss and surprisingly elected to bat first and the decision didn’t prove to be a good one, as they lost 6 wickets in no time, thanks to a good opening spell from Mohammed Siraj, Deepak Chahar and Umran Malik. Washington Sundar also chipped in with wickets and was the pick of the Indian bowlers with 3/37 in his ten overs. Bangladesh were in all sort of trouble and there was a possibility of them getting bundled out under 100!

Mehidy Hasan and Mahmudullah stitch a mammoth partnership of 148 runs

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mamudullah steadied the ship and soon started ticking away with runs. They added 148 runs with Mahmudullah for the seventh wicket. Mehidy batted till the end and brough up his maiden ODI century, 100 unbeaten runs off just 83 deliveries and decimated the Indian bowling attack to all parts of the stadium alongside Mahmudullah (77) and Nasum Ahmed who played an attacking knock in the fag end.

India lost early wickets and were pegged back

Virat Kohli and not KL Rahul opened the innings for India alongside Shikhar Dhawan but opening bowlers Ebadot Hossain and Mustafiur Rahman bowled well and got rid of both the batters respectively. Washington Sundar departed soon against the spin of Shakib Al Hasan. Shreyas Iyer (82) and Axar Patel (56) added 107 runs for the fifth wicket after skipper KL Rahul departed cheaply batting low at number 5. The partnership absorbed the pressure for India but both the batters departed in the space of five overs in the middle stages to build the pressure yet again.

Rohit Sharma’s late blitz

Rohit Sharma came in to bat at number 9 despite that injury after Shardul Thakur departed in the 46th over with another 59 runs to win off 29 deliveries. Rohit started cautiously and then began the onslaught as he hammered away 3 fours and 5 magnificent sixes to bring the scoring rate in check. Mahmudullah bowled the second last over where Rohit Sharma hit 20 runs, bringing the equation to 20 off the final over which went on to be 6 off the final ball. Mustafizur bowls an excellent yorker under pressure on the last ball and takes Bangladesh to a famous series victory. Bangladesh won the match by 5 runs and take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series.
