Team India won the test series 2-1 win over Australia in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India and Australia will now battle it out in the 50 over format. India and Australia are set to face each other in the first game of the three-match series on Friday, March 17 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will host the contest. Shubman Gill took New Zealand by storm in the ODI series in January with his scintillating batting performances. He scored a double-century and a ton in two of the three ODIs and will be gunning to get vital runs in the forthcoming clash against the Aussies to give blistering starts while opening. Shreyas Iyer will not be available for selection because of injury. Also, India will miss the services of Rohit Sharma in this match as he is unavailable for selection because of personal reasons. Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the ODI series due to personal reasons as well. 

On the other hand, Australia will be captained by Steve Smith in the absence of Pat Cummins. David Warner has also recovered from his elbow injury and is set to take the field. Glenn Maxwell is also making a comeback after recovering from an injury that he sustained during the T20 World Cup. Adam Zampa will return to the ODI team after a brilliant performance in the domestic circuit back in Australia. This is expected to be a close contest, with both teams well-balanced. Wankhade has been favourable to the Aussies in the past, they have won the last 3 encounters at this venue against India.
