India is one of the dominant powers in world cricket. Be it in the senior or youth system, India has been one of the foremost nations when it comes to the sport. Recently, India clinched the Under-19 World Cup in stunning fashion by beating England by four wickets. The win in Antigua continued their dominance in Under-19 cricket, having won the title for the record fifth time. In fact, in all the performances from 2012, India has lost only five times in the ICC Under-19 World Cup.

However, the win against England has put India on an elite list of nations when it comes to winning ICC events. The Under-19 World Cup was India’s 10th major ICC event. Only Australia is ahead of the pack with 11 ICC tournament wins. In addition to five Under-19 World Cup titles, the Indian senior team has won the ICC World Cup twice, the ICC Champions Trophy also twice and the ICC World T20 once. If one has to include the Benson and Hedges World Championship of cricket, then India is on par with Australia.

Only Australia is ahead of India with the most ICC title wins. They have won the World Cup five times. In addition, they have won the ICC Champions Trophy twice and the T20 World Cup once. The Under-19 World Cup has been won thrice by Australia, with their last win coming in 2010.

Full list of ICC Trophies among nations

If one has to look at nations that have won all the ICC Trophies, then India, Australia, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan make the cut. Sri Lanka has never won the ICC Under-19 World Cup while Pakistan and West Indies have won it. If one takes into account the ICC World Test Championship, then New Zealand has also registered their name on it. New Zealand has never won the ICC World Cup and the World T20. Here is the full list of nations that have won all the trophies.

When it comes to the Women’s World Cup, then Australia has zoomed ahead when it comes to World Cup and World T20 wins. If that is taken into account, then Australia is the only nation on the planet to have won all trophies in cricket. Here is the breakup in women’s cricket

India have a unique opportunity

India now has a unique opportunity to correct plenty of historical misses. The ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 offers them a chance to win their first-ever World Cup. If the India men’s senior team can clinch the ICC World T20 in 2022, then India will join the West Indies as the only nation to have won the Under-19 World Cup, Women’s World Cup, and the World T20 in the same year. West Indies achieved the feat in 2016 when they won the Under-19 World Cup and both the men’s and women’s World T20.

2022 is a year filled with opportunities. One hopes that India’s senior team can break their ongoing ICC jinx.
