India announces squad for the series against Australia

The Indian Board of Control for Cricket released the Indian women's squad for the forthcoming five-match T20I series against Australia on Friday. The first T20I encounter between India and Australia will be played on December 9th at the D.Y. Patil Stadium

The Indian Board of Control for Cricket released the Indian women’s squad for the forthcoming five-match T20I series against Australia on Friday. The first T20I encounter between India and Australia will be played on December 9th at the D.Y. Patil Stadium, followed by the second match on December 11th at the same site. Both teams will then travel to the Brabourne Stadium for the third, fourth, and fifth Twenty20 Internationals, which will be played on the 14th, 17th, and 20th of December, respectively. Harmanpreet Kaur will be in charge of the 15-member squad, with star batter Smriti Mandhana serving as her deputy. India will have two wicketkeepers in the series: Yastika Bhatia and Richa Ghosh.

The India regulars, like Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verman, and Deepti Sharma, have made the cut. Spinner Rajeshwari Gaikwad’s name appears on the list as well. Pooja Vastrakar had been ruled out from the series due to injury and was not considered for selection. “Monika Patel, Arundhati Reddy, SB Pokharkar, and Simran Bahadur have been selected as net bowlers. Pooja Vastrakar is ruled out owing to an injury and was not considered for selection,” BCCI said in a statement.

New faces in the Team

Left-arm seamer Anjali Sarvani has been called for the first time while Devika Vaidya and Harleen Deol have returned to the side, Hemalatha and Kiran Navgire have been dropped while there is no news on Sneh Rana’s commission from the squad. Poonam Yadav to has not made the cut.
