ICC reveals the women's T20I team of 2022

On Monday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the Women's T20I Team of the Year 2022. (January 23)

On Monday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the Women’s T20I Team of the Year 2022. (January 23). Four Indian cricketers, including star batter Smriti Mandhana, are included, as are three Australian players. Sophie Devine of New Zealand has been appointed captain of the 11 extraordinary players in 2022. Let us have a look at the team.

Smriti Mandhana

Smriti Mandhana, India’s batting sensation, had a fantastic year with the bat, scoring 594 runs at an average of 33.00 and a strike rate of 133.48. She scored five half-centuries in 21 innings this year, including one in the Women’s Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka in October. Mandhana scored an undefeated 51 off 25 balls in a 66-run chase, accounting for more than 70% of the team’s runs. She also scored two half-centuries in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, boosting India to victories against Pakistan and England. In women’s T20Is, she concluded the year as the fourth-highest run-scorer.

Beth Mooney

Mooney only played 14 T20Is in 2022, but she was at her best, averaging 56.12 and striking at a pace of 134.43. Mooney, who scored 61 off 41 balls for Australia in the Commonwealth Games final against India in Birmingham, maintained her success into the India series, scoring two half-centuries at the start of the bilaterals in sub-continental conditions.

Sophie Devine (C)

Sophie Devine once again stood out with 389 runs and 13 wickets this year. In back-to-back matches at the Commonwealth Games, the New Zealand hitter smashed half-centuries against Australia and England, two of the strongest teams. She concluded the tournament as the competition’s second-highest run-scorer, trailing only Mooney, while also claiming six wickets.

Ash Gardener

Gardner comes into this lineup having had a fantastic strike rate of 152.11 in 216 runs last year. While doing so, she averaged 72, making it one of the best seasons in women’s baseball history.

Tahlia McGrath

The Australian all-rounder scored 435 runs in T20Is this year, striking at a rate of 145.0, with four half-centuries in 11 knocks, one virtually every third inning. Her best performance came against England at the start of the year, when she hit an unbeaten 91 off 49 balls in the first T20I of the women’s Ashes after taking 3/26 with the ball early in the game, one of the all-time best all-round performances in women’s T20Is.

Other players on the list

Nida Dar, Pakistan’s star all-rounder, is the only Pakistani cricketer who scored 396 runs and grabbed 15 wickets in T20Is in 2022. Deepti Sharma, perhaps India’s finest player in 2022, was also named, as was talented wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh. In the bowling category, England’s spin ace, Sophie Ecclestone, who leads the ICC T20 Bowler’s chart, joins Sri Lankan great bowler, Inoka Ranaweera, and Indian pacer, Renuka Singh.
