India Women will take on England Women in the first ODI on Sunday (September 18) at the County Ground in Hove. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team lost the T20 series 2-1 where their batting order collapsed under pressure and that would be one area they would like to work on as well. For England, it would be the continuation of their winning momentum as well.
However, the spotlight will be on Jhulan Goswami as she will play her last ODI series before announcing her retirement. Her addition in ODIs will strengthen the bowling attack as well and it is their middle-order that India needs to focus on as the experienced players like Kaur, Mandhana, and Deepti Sharma have not contributed consistently. Even Shafali Verma too has failed to score big. On the other hand, the hosts are in sublime form with Sophia Dunkley and Sophie Ecclestone leading the charge with bat and ball respectively. While they are playing without their key players – Heather Knight and Nat Sciver, they will try to trouble the visitors as they did recently.
