IPL 2022: Nitish Rana, DevDutt Padikkal Go for Rs 8 and 7.5 Crore to KKR and RR, Jason Holder Sold For Rs 8.75 Crore to LSG as Steve Smith Goes Unsold

Devdutt Padikkal went for Rs 7.75 crore to Rajasthan Royals but surprisingly, Suresh Raina and Steve Smith went unsold.

Devdutt Padikkal went to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 7.75 crore in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. However, the other star was Nitish Rana. After an intense bid from Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders, Nitish Rana went to KKR for Rs 8 crore. There was a major surprise as Suresh Raina went unsold. This could probably be the first time that he does not feature in any team. In another major jolt, Steve Smith also went unsold although he could feature in the Sunday accelerated auction. Even Shakib Al Hasan went unsold.

But, in the overseas club, Jason Holder became the star as there was intense bidding from Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals. After some major deliberations, Jason Holder was bought for Rs 8.75 crore by Luckow Super Giants.

Smith had earlier played for Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals but he had struggled in the previous edition. Dwayne Bravo, who retired from all international cricket in 2021, was bid by Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Delhi Capitals jumped in but in the end, he went to Chennai Super Kings for Rs 4.4 crore

Shimron Hetmyer continued the trend of big bids in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. From his base price of Rs 1.5 crore, Hetmyer almost had a five-fold increase in his price. After intense bidding for the West Indies player from Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals, he was sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 8.5 crore.

Manish Pandey was bought for Rs 4.6 crore by the Lucknow Super Giants after a decent round of bidding from Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, after he reached the Rs 3 crore bid, Sunrisers Hyderabad was out and Lucknow Super Giants came in. Delhi Capitals tried but they could not match Lucknow Super Giants.

David Warner Returns to Delhi Capitals, Shreyas Iyer Gets Rs 12.25 Crore

David Warner has come back to Delhi after a gap of almost a decade. The Australian left-hander, who was the star for Sunrisers Hyderabad for nine years, has been selected by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore. Warner had intense bids from Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians but in the end, Delhi Capitals got his services.

Shreyas Iyer became the first player to break the Rs 10 crore price range in IPL 2022 Mega Auction. He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 12.25 crore as teams clamored for his services. In addition, Mohammed Shami was sold to Gujarat Titans for Rs 6.25 crore after an intense bid from Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was tipped that Shreyas Iyer would be bid big time and it was proven to be right.

The marquee set of players in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction continued to get big bids. After Shikhar Dhawan and R Ashwin, Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada were bought by the franchises. Pat Cummins was bought for Rs 7.25 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR had competition from Gujarat Titans but Cummins was bought in the end. But, the rate for Cummins is almost half of the rate that he was bought for in IPL 2020. In that edition, Pat Cummins was bought for a record Rs 15.5 crore.

However, after Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada was part of an intense bid between Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans. Rabada became the most expensive player so far with Rs 9.25 crore as he went to Punjab Kings. This would be the second franchise that Rabada plays for after a couple of years with the Delhi Capitals franchise. He had been the leading wicket-taker for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2019 and 2020 edition.

After Rabada and Cummins, Trent Boult of New Zealand was the next bowler. He got great bids from Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals

Shikhar Dhawan, R Ashwin Shine Shikhar Dhawan was the first player to be bought in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. With a base price of Rs 2 crore, there were bids from Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. In the end, Shikhar Dhawan was bought for Rs 8.25 crore by Punjab Kings. The next player who was bought by R Ashwin.
