India women’s cricket team stunned England in the first semi-final of the Commonwealth Games 2022 Women’s T20 cricket event at the Edgbaston in Birmingham on Saturday to book their spot for the final. The Women in Blue will take on the winners from the second semi-finals between Australia and New Zealand in the summit clash on Sunday.

India rode on a fine half-century from their veteran opener Smriti Mandhana (61) and quick-fire knock from Jemimah Rodriguez (44 not out) to post a challenging total of 164/5 after opting to bat. English left-arm medium pacer Freya Kemp was the pick of the bowlers as she picked up two wickets. In response, the hosts looked in cruise control of the chase, but Natalie Sciver’s (41) run out in the 19th over turned the match as India edged it by four runs.
