Biggest buys in IPL Auctions 2023: Indian Uncapped Players

Here is a look at the top uncapped Indian signings of the IPL 2023 Auction

The IPL 2023 auction was completed in Kochi on Friday where 80 players were bought by from a total of 405 cricketers in the mini-auction. 51 Indians were sold in the auction and there were some unexpected players who were picked and some big names who were ignored. Among the 51 Indian players, 41 uncapped players were picked up by the franchises and some went on to earn over a crore as well. Here is a look at the top uncapped Indian signings of the IPL 2023 Auction:

Shivam Mavi – Rs 6 crore

Shivam Mavi, the former KKR pacer received the highest bid among all Indian uncapped players, the 24-year-old was bagged by defending champion Gujarat Titans for Rs 6 crore, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals also showed interest in him but eventually, GT got him. Mavi began his IPL career with KKR and has picked up 30 wickets from 32 matches in IPL history. Mavi was picked at a whopping Rs 7.25 crore during the 2022 auction but was released ahead of the mini-auctions.

Mukesh Kumar – Rs 5.5 crore

Bengal seamer Mukesh Kumar received his maiden IPL contract after he was bagged by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 5.5 crore. Mukesh also came close to an international debut after he was named in the Indian ODI squad against South Africa in October, but didn’t feature in the playing XI. Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings fought for him in the auction but DC eventually grabbed him for a hefty amount. Mukesh has been in scintillating form for Bengal in the domestic format and will be hoping to replicate the same in the IPL next year.

Vivrant Sharma – Rs 2.6 crore

Jammu and Kashmir opener Vivrant Sharma was the surprise signing in the recently concluded auction. Vivrant base price was only 20 lakhs but he was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rs 2.6 crore after a fierce bid with the Kolkata Knight Riders. The attacking left-handed batter has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit and was very impressive in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well, where he hammered 128 runs at an impressive strike rate of 145.45 and gained recognition.
