The Big Bash League (BBL) season 12 draft took place on Sunday with the franchises picking up players from different salary bands. 12 platinum ($340,000) players could be selected in the first round, platinum and gold ($260,000) in Rd 2, gold and silver ($175,000) in Rd 3 and silver and bronze ($100,000) in Rd 4.

The Melbourne Stars have selected Kiwi superstar Trent Boult with their first selection at the BBL 12 Draft, the franchise said in a media release. After Adelaide matched the Stars’ bid on Afghan superstar Rashid Khan, the Stars quickly pounced on the Kiwi quick at Pick 3, who will make his debut in the BBL, having never played in the tournament before.

The Stars also added reigning Stars Player of the Season, Joe Clarke, with Pick 10 and Luke Wood with Pick 23, the release added. Kiwi superstar Trent Boult arrives at the Melbourne Stars after forging a reputation as one of the most feared strike bowlers in T20 cricket around the world. The 33-year-old has a wealth of global T20 experience under his belt, with 167 matches at domestic level and 44 T20 Internationals for New Zealand.
