Kolkata Knight Riders, the two-time IPL champions, have appointed Bharat Arun as the bowling coach for the 2022 edition of the tournament.
Kolkata Knight Riders, the two-time IPL champions, have announced former India bowling coach Bharat Arun as the new addition in the team. Bharat Arun will be the bowling coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. In a statement announced by Kolkata Knight Riders, KKR CEO Venky Mysore and head coach Brendon McCullum welcomed Bharat Arun on board.
McCullum stated that the international knowledge Bharat Arun holds will be valuable to the Kolkata Knight Riders. Mysore stated that the wealth of experience that Bharat Arun has will benefit Kolkata Knight Riders. On the other hand, the former India cricket team bowling coach said he is a big admirer of the way KKR play in the IPL.
Kolkata Knight Riders made very few surprises when it announced the retention of the side in IPL 2022. They retained Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Venkatesh Iyer. Narine and Russell have been proven match-winners for Kolkata Knight Riders for close to a decade. Narine’s aggression at the top and Russell’s blitz at the death has given Kolkata Knight Riders a massive boost.
Venkatesh Iyer was the star performer for Kolkata Knight Riders with both bat and ball in IPL 2021. Varun Chakravarthy, on the other hand, impressed everyone with his variations. Kolkata Knight Riders have a purse of Rs 48 crore remaining for the mega-auction. Having let go of Pat Cummins, Eoin Morgan, Shubman Gill and many other players, KKR might want to have a reboot of their strategy and pick the right players for the auction.
Kolkata Knight Riders made it to the final of IPL 2021. But they lost to Chennai Super Kings in the final. Chennai Super Kings won by 27 runs and MS Dhoni’s team secured the title for the fourth time. KKR last won the IPL title in 2014. Prior to that, they had won in 2012.
The IPL mega-auction will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bangalore. There will be strict coronavirus norms governing social distancing. The IPL 2022 will be a 10-team affair, with Ahmedabad and Lucknow being the two new teams in the IPL. There are reports that KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya might reportedly be appointed as the captains of the Lucknow and Ahmedabad franchises in IPL 2022.
