England will aim at levelling the series as they lock horns with Bangladesh in the second T20I of the three-match series. Bangladesh who secured a brilliant victory in the first T20I in Chattogram, would like to make history, clinching the series by winning for the first time against England. After incurring a heartbreaking 1-2 defeat to the Englishmen in the ODIs, Bangladesh ensured a commendable fightback in the T20Is, winning the first fixture without breaking a sweat. While the spin unit, led by Shakib Al Hasan, kept England on their toes, Hasan Mahmud made it incredibly tough for the visitors to accelerate in the slog overs. On the batting front, Najmul Hossain Shanto translated his ODI success in the T20I, smashing a brilliant fifty, England had to defend the low total of 156 runs on a surface which was looking good to bat on.

On the other hand, England were poor with the bat, as they faltered in finishing their innings on a high note. Despite getting off to a flying start, courtesy of a brisk 80-run opening stand between Jos Buttler and Phil Salt. As they will continue to miss their first-choice middle-order batters, Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone, the onus will be on Dawid Malan and Ben Duckett to assist the openers. Their bowlers also had a forgettable outing, failing to strike at crucial junctures. While Mark Wood conceded runs at a miserable economy of 12, Sam Curran and Chris Woakes couldn’t pick a single wicket. So, they have a lot of areas to reassess and fine-tune their performance in order to stay alive in the series. Bangladesh will look to focus on continuing with the winning momentum and taking an unassailable lead in the series.
