The second One-Day International (ODI) between Australia and Pakistan is scheduled for Wednesday, January 18 at Allan Border Field in Brisbane. Australia did not miss a beat in their previous match against Pakistan, bowling brilliantly. While the duo of Jess Jonassen and Darcie Brown shone with the ball, the Australian top-order made short work of a modest target. Australia will start as the clear favourite, with a strong blend of youth and experience. Phoebe Litchfield is one of Australia’s rising stars in women’s cricket, and the youngster recently stated that she has lately modelled her game after national teammate Beth Mooney. Mooney, another of the world’s top batters, presented Litchfield with her ODI debut cap before the 19-year-old scored an unbeaten 78 off 92 balls in Australia’s eight-wicket victory against Pakistan in Brisbane on Monday.

The pair began the run chase, but Mooney was quickly eliminated for 1. Litchfield persisted, partnering with captain Meg Lanning (67 off 76) to lead Australia to victory with an innings Mooney would have been proud of. Meanwhile, Pakistan showed hints of their talent in the first ODI, with Nida Dar standing out with the bat. Pakistan, despite their lack of firepower, has some experience to fall back on, making for an entertaining contest in Brisbane. Meg Lanning had an immediate impact on her international return, smashing 67 runs off 76 balls in the opening ODI. With an average in excess of 50, Lanning is one of the top batters in this style.

In the previous game, Nida Dar was Pakistan’s greatest batter, scoring 59 runs before being shut out. The Pakistani all-rounder has a wealth of experience and can also take wickets with her off-spin. Ashleigh Gardner is in great shape and made an impression in the WBBL in late 2017. Gardner is renowned for her power with the bat and her ability to hold her own with the ball. She displayed good control and accuracy in the previous game with statistics of 5-0-15-1.
