Andrew Symonds News: 'His dogs refused to leave him' and a local man tried to save the legend after car crash

Andrew Symonds, one of the greatest all-rounders and entertainers of the game, left the cricketing world poorer as he passed away following a car crash in the early hours of Sunday. The initial investigation and reports have suggested that the Australia legend died in a single-car crash at Hervey Range outside of Townsville after his car rolled off the road. As per Queensland Police, emergency services attempted to revive Symonds after his car left a road and rolled after 11pm.“However, he died of his injuries. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating,” police said in a statement.

Andrew Symonds News: A local man tried to give CPR to the legend

Australian media, 9News, has reported on Sunday that a local man rushed to the spot to save the cricketer after his car turned upside down following the crash in a remote part of North Queensland. The local man was identified as Waylon Townson. “He was stuck in there, so I tried to pull him out,” he told 9News. “(I) started doing CPR and checked his pulse but I didn’t get much response.”

Andrew Symonds News: ‘His blue heeler dogs remained by his side’

In another heart-wrenching revelation following the car crash, it has been reported that his blue heeler dogs were found extremely sensitive after the car crash and refused to leave his side. The incident was reported by a couple who reached the spot of the car crash minutes after it took place and called 000 immediately. “One of them was very sensitive and didn’t want to leave him, it would just growl at you every time we tried to move him or go near him,” Babetha Neliman told The Courier-Mail
