Boxer Sagar will play his semi-final bout against Ifeanyi Onyekwere of Nigeria in the men's super-heavyweight division in Birmingham 2022.
Boxer Sagar Ahlawat stormed into the final four of the Men’s super-heavyweight category of the Commonwealth Games 2022. He produced an incredible show yet again, defeating Keddy Evans Agnes of Seychelles in a unanimous verdict. Earlier in the tournament opener, Sagar outclassed former Cameroon Olympian Maxme Nyieyo by a 5-0 margin. The 22-year-old will be up against Nigeria’s Ifeanyi Onyekwere in the semi-final bout.
Sagar had stunned Tokyo Olympic quarter-finalist Satish Kumar and current national champion Narender in the trials for Birmingham. This guaranteed him a position in the Indian Boxing squad for the Commonwealth Games 2022. Hailing from the Dhandlan village of Rohtak in Haryana, the pugilist became aware of the game from a newspaper article. This acted as an inspiration to take up boxing in his professional career. He came on people’s radar when he collected several golds in the All India and Khelo India University Games.

Boxers Amit Panghal and Nitu Ghanghas have entered the finals of the Commonwealth Games 2022. Amit advanced to the final of men’s flyweight with a score of 5-0 against Patrick Chinyemba. While young Nitu defeated the Canadian opponent Priyanka Dhillon by RSC to reach the last two. Earlier, boxers Nikhat Zareen, Mohammed Hussamuddin, Jaismine and Rohit Tokas ensured medals in boxing by entering the semi-finals.
