Detroit will be the hub of the US boxing scene as the 2023 USA Boxing Qualifier will roll on next Monday, from 18 March to 25 March, at Huntington Place in Detroit, Michigan. The weeklong tournament will have around 800 boxers from across the USA (age 8 – 40 years).  This event will also act as the second qualifier for the next December 2024 U.S. Olympics Team trials for the boxers in the elite category. This event becomes even more important for US boxing because of the upcoming December Olympics trials held in Lafayette, Louisiana from 1st– 9th Dec.

Detroit has been rich in boxing history and legends like Mickey Goodwin to Thomas “Hitman” Hearns have called it Motor City home.  Detroit is extremely excited and honored to host the 2023 USA Boxing National Qualifier. More than 800 boxers will participate in the event. And the world is going to witness some future Olympians and World Champions.

USA’s performance in the Olympics has been very impactful. Last Tokyo Summer Olympics 2020 was one such example. USA bagged 113 medals, the most among all the nations: 39 Gold, 41 Silver and 33 Bronze. In the Gold section, US suppressed China (38 medals). This was the third time in a row for the USA in Summer Olympics that the USA was the medal table topper. The highest was in swimming (11) followed by Athletics (7) and then wrestling (3).
