Nitu Ghanghas won gold in the Women's World Boxing finals

Nitu Ghanghas is now the sixth Indian women's boxer to win a gold medal in the Women’s world boxing championship.

IBA Women’s Boxing World Championship 2023, Nitu Ghanghas secured gold by defeating Mongolia’s Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg in the finals. She won the gold by 5-0 in the 48 kg category. This is the first gold in this tournament. Nitu is playing her first final at the women’s world boxing championship. She was extremely aggressive in this game and dominated her opponent in every way possible.

The 22-year-old Nitu was participating in her second World Championships. Nitu Ghanghas is now the sixth Indian women’s boxer to win a gold medal in the Women’s world boxing championship. Other boxers who won the competition’s gold medals included Mary Kom, Laishram Sarita Devi, Jenny RL, Lekha KC, and Nikhat Zareen.

Mongolia’s Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg did start with a few punches, but Nitu was in no mood to give up. With this attitude, Nitu was in lead after the first two rounds. Both the players got the yellow card but in the last 30 seconds, Nitu delivered two punches and won the game. Lutsaikhan did not get any opportunity to make a game in the game.

Nitu maintained her advantage throughout the contest despite Lutsaikan’s constant efforts. Nitu appeared set to earn a 3-2 victory in the second round. However, the third round was a bit challenging for her. But with her amazing footwork and she fought beautifully against Lutsaikhan. Nitu finally won the world championship, becoming the first person to do so, by winning the third round.

She has already won a gold medal at the 2022 Strandja Memorial tournament and this medal added one more beauty to her medal section. After defeating Kazakhstan’s Alua Balkibekova in the semifinals, Nitu advanced to the championship round. She described the match against Balkibekova as being extremely stressful because she had previously lost to the Kazakh player. Balkibekova is a two-time Asian champion and troubled Ghanghas in the semi-final. But Nitu came victorious in the game.

Nitu’s Journey in IBA Women’s Boxing World Championship 2023

Ghanghas started this tournament by winning against Korea’s Kang Doyeon in the first round. And in the second round, she defeated Tajikistan’s Qosimova Sumaiya. In the quarterfinal, the youngster easily defeated Japan’s Wada Madoka. When she defeated Kazakhstan’s Alua Belkibekova 5-2 in the semifinals, she earned her biggest win.

22-year-old Nitu was born in the Bhiwani district of Haryana’s Dhanana village on 19 October 2000. To find a positive way to channel the energy, her father introduced Nitu to boxing. Nitu defeated Demie-Jade Resztan of England by a score of 5-0 on August 7, 2022, in the 48 category (minimumweight category), earning India the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.
