Maxi Hughes and Kid Galahad will square off in an all-British lightweight bout at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena on September 24, 2022. Hughes will be defending his IBO title for the second time after convincingly defeating fellow British boxer Ryan Walsh in March in his first outing. Hughes won the belt in September with a shutout victory over the formidable Giovanni Straffon. Whereas, after suffering a shocking loss to Kiko Martinez in November last year, Kid Galahad will be trying to bounce back. The Sheffield fighter lost his IBF featherweight title after being surprised by the Spaniard Martinez in six rounds.

Hughes made his first appearance in professional boxing in 2010. On his debut, he got the better of Johnny Greaves by scoring a four-round points decision (PTS) win at the Doncaster Dome in the UK. In his pro career of 32 matches, he has a record of 25 wins, five losses, and two draws. On the other hand, Galahad made his professional boxing debut in 2009, winning his first match against Delroy Spencer via points. He has played 30 professional matches, out of which he got 28 wins (18 through Knockouts) and two losses. Galahad is currently ranked as the ninth-best featherweight in the world by The Ring and the tenth-best by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board as of July 2022.
