India’s star pugilist Amit Panghal will be aiming for his second Commonwealth Games medal and first Gold medal at Birmingham 2022. Amit had to settle for the Silver with a loss against England’s Galai Yafai in the finals of Gold Coast. However, Amit will be more determined than ever to grab a top spot at the Commonwealth Games 2022 post-Tokyo 2020 horrors. In the ongoing CWG, he got past Namri Berri of Vanuatu in a convincing 5-0 win. He is a win away from assuring himself a second medal at the CWG. Amit will face Lennon Mulligan of Scotland in the Quarters.

The boxer won a gold medal on his maiden outing at National Boxing Championships in 2017. Amit bagged Gold for India in the men’s flyweight division at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia. In September 2019, he became India’s first male pugilist to grab a Silver medal in the World Boxing Championships. The boxer is currently a Junior Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army.
