They decided it by winning over the Košice players 81:66 in Sunday’s home fifth meeting of the final series, which they dominated 4:1. The Lions triumphed with the biggest difference in the entire series, the maximum so far was a six-point gap in the third meeting, in which the Patriots succeeded 72:66. The “Bulls” appeared in their premier final, after third place from the previous year, they moved up one rung, Levice celebrated their first league title in 2011.
The first quarter was like a swing, the home team trailed by three points, but with a ten-point streak they turned the tide and briefly led by seven. But then the visitors recovered and finally went into the second quarter with a deficit of only one point. In the second part, the Košice team followed up on the good end of the opening ten minutes. They gradually took the lead by six points, but then “fell asleep” and the Patriots took the initiative. Not only did they wipe out the visitors’ lead, they even built a promising nine-point gap by the end of the first half. After the change of sides, the “bulls” gradually lost their breath, which Levice took full advantage of, systematically worked to strengthen their lead and entered the final part of the game with a comfortable lead of 12 points. In the last quarter, the Patriots did not allow the Košice players to get close and won the second title in the club’s history.
