Six more games are scheduled before the teams in Groups C and D wrap up the group stage of the EuroBasket 2022 competition. A game between Finland and the Netherlands will kick off the day. The chance exists that three teams may finish the group stage with the identical win-loss record as the Netherlands, in which case estimates would have to be made.

Later on, Croatia will battle Ukraine to essentially avoid facing Serbia in the Round of 16. Unless Serbia loses to Poland later in the day (21:00 CET), the fourth-place team in Group C will face the Nikola Jokic-led squad in the playoffs. The biggest match of the day comes at 17:30 CET where the Czech Republic will battle against Israel for the last playoff spot remaining since all four teams that advance to the next round in Group C are already known. The final day of the group stage will also feature matches between Estonia and Greece, Italy, and Great Britain.

After the Czech Republic’s match against Israel, Greece will likely learn who their opponent will be. Greece has already secured top place in Group C. (17:30 CET). Only the match between the host nation and the huge underdog Netherlands (14:00 CET) will determine the last playoff position, barring Finland losing to them. The calculations would begin if the Netherlands defeated Finland. Finland, the Czech Republic, and Israel would all have a win-loss record of two and three if the Czech Republic went on to defeat Israel.

Croatia needs to win

Croatia, Ukraine, and Italy will finish second, third, and fourth in the division, respectively. If Italy defeats Great Britain in the final match of the day, the exact locations will be known after the Croatia-Ukraine game at 14:15 CET today. To avoid playing Serbia in the Round of 16 from the fourth spot, Croatia needs to win. The squad captained by Nikola Jokic would be the opponent in this scenario. Ukraine would claim the second slot in the group if Croatia doesn’t defeat them by at least eight goals. If they do win by at least 8, Croatia moves up to second, Ukraine drops to third, and Italy falls to fourth.
