South Korea vs Latvia 2022 International Friendly Games Women match will be held on August 20, i,e on Saturday. On Friday and Saturday, the women’s basketball team will compete in two exhibition games against the Latvian national team at the Cheongju Gymnasium in North Chungcheong. The women’s basketball team is hosting an international team for the first time in an attempt to act as a warm-up for the national team before they take the court in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in September. The national team isn’t in the finest form right now, though. Bae Hye-yoon and Lee Hae-ran are both out due to injuries, and star player Park Ji-su won’t be participating in the friendly after being identified as having an early-stage panic disorder.
Park apparently had a panic attack and began hyperventilating last month, so she left practice with her WKBL team, the KB Stars, and was brought to the hospital. Park is the only player currently playing in both the Women’s Korean Basketball League (WKBL) and the WNBA, therefore this is a significant loss for the national team. Park’s spot on the national team roster has not been filled by the Korea Basketball Association, forcing head coach Jung Sun-min to call up only 15 players to the Jincheon National Training Center in North Chungcheong. One player who was among the 15 practising in Cheongju for the friendly has now tested positive for Covid-19. Korea will play China on September 22, Belgium on September 23, Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 24, and the United States on September 26 in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. On September 27, Korea will play their last group stage encounter against Puerto Rico.
