Not many legitimate role players come from the NBA G League, but not the Los Angeles Lakers. The South Bay Lakers have both talented Lakers currently on the roster and fan favorites who have departed. That said, it’s nice to see the South Bay succeed as it could bode well for Los Angeles’ bright future. Since the last update a week ago, South Bay’s Lakers have played three games against three notable opponents, two of which have not been of the team’s interest. The South Bay Lakers traveled south of the border on Wednesday to play Mexico City against the Capitans. The Capitanes is one of two G League teams not affiliated with an NBA club and the first G League team to play outside the United States.
He had three players in Mexico City who scored 20 or more points against South Bay. Los Angeles traded Jones even though he was one of the best players in South Bay last season. He scored 21 points with four rebounds and four assists. The South Bay’s only win of the week came against another non-NBA G League team, the G League Ignites. Created as a place for NBA draft prospects to play instead of college, Ignite boasts some of the best prospects in the entire sport.

Scoot Henderson is the consensus No. 2 pick in his 2023 NBA Draft behind Victor Wenbanyama (in most other years he would be No. 1). Henderson didn’t play much in that game, only he scored seven minutes of action. Summer league standout Cole Sweider led the Lakers to a career-high 25 points in the win. Suwayder said he knocked down five of his ten three-point attempts in this game.
