Israel vs Italy 2022 FIBA U-18 European Championship game will be held on August 6. With victories on Thursday, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, and Turkey all advanced to the Semi-Finals and took a step closer to winning the FIBA U18 European Championship. The final eight victors had a further incentive in that they also secured their spots in the 2019 FIBA Basketball U19 World Cup, with one last position to be decided over the weekend. Gasper Skorjanc’s game-winning three-pointer with 6.2 seconds remaining gave Slovenia a thrilling 58-57 victory against championship favorites France to start the day’s play in a dramatic fashion. With a 31-16 advantage at the break, hitherto unbeaten France seemed to be on track for a victory.

Slovenia won the third quarter 23-10, but the game was then turned on its head as they had to come from nine points down to win the fourth. Skorjanc had a game-high 14 points, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, but France as a team failed to find its range, making only 3-of-19 shots from outside. To cap off the day, there was jubilation at home when Turkey finished out the last four lineups, defeating Lithuania 64-61 in a stunning fourth-quarter comeback. Prior to the game, Lithuania had a perfect record and was up 54-47 with 5:00 left when the hosts went on a 12-3 run to grab the lead. A pair of free throws from Arda Sivas would be necessary for Turkey to regain their slim lead before several outstanding defensive plays, including a significant rejection from Kerem Konan. With 14 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals in a determined 40-minute effort, Turkey’s Berke Buyuktuncel had another impressive game. His team will next play Slovenia.
