The match is of Hungary vs Slovakia. In international basketball competitions, Hungary is represented by the men’s national basketball team. The Hungarian Basketball Federation oversees it (MKOSZ). From the 1940s until the 1960s, Hungary’s performance in international competition was at its finest. In addition to making it to the Olympic Games on four of the first six editions of the competition overall, the national team represented the country there and won multiple medals in the EuroBasket (1946, 1953, and 1955). Since 1969, the squad has only made it to the continental championship three times (1999, 2017, and 2022). Hungary is still vying to be the first country to play in the FIBA World Cup.
In international basketball competitions, Slovakia is represented by the men’s national basketball team. The Slovak Basketball Association serves as the overseeing authority (SBA). As one of the world’s newest national basketball teams, Slovakia broke away from Czechoslovakia in 1993 after the unification of the two countries. Later that year, they became members of FIBA, and they competed in their first international game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Slovakia’s international history is still relatively young. Despite their attempts, they haven’t yet qualified for prestigious competitions like the FIBA World Cup and EuroBasket.
