Hungary vs Lithuania 2022 FIBA U-18 European Championship Women’s game will be held on August 8. At the FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship, Portugal pulled away in the third quarter to upset Great Britain’s Under-18s 67-49, dropping the British team’s record to 1-3. At halftime, the score was just one point in favor of Great Britain, but they were unable to maintain their momentum against the unbeaten Group A champions, dropping them into the 9-18 Classification groups and delaying their promotion for another summer. Leia Edwards had her second double-double of the competition with 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Fatmata Janneh added 11 points and 9 rebounds off the bench.

Edwards scored the game’s first goal with a strong inside finish, but for the following seven minutes, the British team was unable to threaten the goal scorers as they tried to get through the Portuguese defense. They only gave up six points at that time, which was fortunate since they quickly leveled the game with the efforts of Janneh and Edwards. Portugal edged over the opposition in a low-scoring first quarter with a score of 11-9 as both teams struggled to shoot at 23 percent. Welsh natives Issy Bunyan and Carys Roy temporarily gave Great Britain the lead, but their opponents quickly retaliated with an 8-0 run.

As they drew 13 fouls from their opponents in the first half, GB was 5-of-20 from outside the arc and made just one three-pointer. They were also 13-of-20 from the foul line. Early in the third, Edwards gave Great Britain the lead with a difficult and-1, but Portugal quickly responded with one of their own to start a commanding 19-2 run.
