Gold Coast Rollers vs Logan Thunder 2022 NBL1 North Playoffs Australia match will be held on August 12. Unlike the previous two seasons, the NBL1 season is finally nearing its conclusion. This weekend, each conference is either playing in its championship game or hosting its last regular-season weekend event. It indicates that the enthusiasm is increasing and the hype has reached a new level. As we prepare for business time in the NBL1, having previously projected the season’s award winners, it’s time to bring you up to speed on the situation in each conference. This weekend marks the start of the brutal NBL1 North Finals. Because it’s a straight knockout, every move is either you win or you die.

LeBron James’ future NBA  son Bronny could move to Australia and the NBL in 2023.   Bronny is currently a senior in high school and is expected to draft for the 2024 NBA draft, but that leaves speculation about his fate in 2023. NBA eligibility rules dictate that Bronny would have to play one more season before he could be drafted. According to The Athletic, that means LeBron James and his eldest son are considering a few options for his post-high school season. Bronny will likely choose between a stint in college, the G League Ignite, or possibly a stint in Australia’s NBL. An exciting prospect for Aussie fans to see the 6’3 point guard in action and a taste of what is to come from the son of one of the greatest of all time.   It could all be part of a master plan from LeBron, who has made it clear that he wants to play a season with his son before heading into the dawn of basketball.

LeBron appeared on The Athletic earlier this year and said, “My senior year, I’ll be playing with my son. “Wherever Bronny is, I’ll be there. I would do anything to play with my son for a year. It’s not about the money at the time.” With LeBron’s contract with the LA Lakers expiring after next season, that likely means LeBron will either have to apply for an extension with the Los Angeles team or play with his son. Before we do, however getting there,  Australia could prove to be a promising field of development for Bronny and a chance to prove himself with his father a season ahead. The likes of LaMelo Ball and Josh Giddey have shown that Australia can be the perfect platform for the NBA.   Ball joined the Illawarra Hawks in 2019 as part of the NBL Next Stars program, which aims to develop potential NBA drafts. After a stint in Australia, Ball entered the 2020 NBA draft with a dramatic rise in his stock due to his success in the NBL, where he was named Rookie of the Year. Given Ball’s success, there’s no doubt that NBL teams will be vocal about having Bronny on their rosters.   Sydney Kings owner Paul Smith has already begun to position his team as a favorite target for LeBron and his son.
