The Connecticut Sun will head to the College Park Center for Game 3 of their first-round playoff series against the Dallas Wings. After getting thumped in Game1, the Wings showed great composure to bag a win in Game 2.
Kayla Thornton scored 20 points for the team from Dallas. Teaira McCowan came off the bench in Game 2. She made her presence felt by scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Allisha Gray and Marina Mabrey added 15 and 14 points respectively for the team. The Wings were dominant right from the word go. They scored 22 points in the first quarter while containing the Suns to only 7. Going into the fourth quarter they had a solid 19-point lead. The Sun tried to make a comeback and went on to score 32 in the fourth quarter, but things had gotten too late by then.
Brionna Jones and Jonquel Jones led the way for the Suns by adding 20 points each. Dijonai Carrington also had a solid game where she scored 13 points, but no other player looked to be firing for the team. Heading into a decisive Game 3, they cannot afford complacency. The Sun had a stellar regular season campaign. However, all of that could be undone if they have another poor performance on Wednesday. They have a stellar team and if they get it right, it is going to be difficult for the Wings to stop them.
Bria Hartley is indefinitely out of the game as the team reported that she is out for the season due to an ACL injury. As far as the Dallas Wings are concerned, the only player who is listed as probable for them is Arike Ogwunbowale. The guard is recovering from an abdominal injury and could be a gametime decision.
