The match between South Africa vs Spain will take place in Armin-Wolf-Arena (Regensburg) on Friday, September 16 at 13:00 CEST.
The match is South Africa vs Spain. Major League Baseball has welcomed teams from Germany, Spain, Great Britain, France, and South Africa to the Regensburg ballpark. The event was originally set for March 2020 but was postponed because of the pandemic. The six teams are competing in a double-elimination tournament in the hopes of securing a coveted position in the main event in the spring.
South Africa and Spain begin the tournament’s first day on Friday, with the winner taking against Czechia on Saturday afternoon. Great Britain and France face off on Friday night to decide who will face Germany on Saturday night. The four losers from the first two days will try to avoid elimination on Sunday. Teams will return to the field on Tuesday and Wednesday to compete for the two slots after having a break day on Monday.
The teams now have some well-known players on their rosters as a result of the rosters’ publication. On the German national team are ex-MLB players Bruce Maxwell, Aaron Altherr, Nick Wittgren, and Brian Flynn. Bruce Bochy, a superstar in Major League Baseball who has won several World Series, is the manager of France. MLB experience is included in the biographies of Gift Ngoepe from South Africa, Engel Beltre from Spain, Michael Roth, and Vance Worley from Great Britain, as well as Gift Ngoepe from South Africa.
A WBC Qualifier is being held in the Armin-Wolf-Baseball-Arena, the Guggenberger Legionaere Regensburg’s home field, for the second time since 2012. The facility underwent significant renovations over the past ten years, with the final phases completed in time for the WBCQ in 2022.
