Perth will take on Adelaide in the Australia ABL on November 12 at Empire Ballpark. The Perth Heat defended their Australian Baseball League title. They won the trophy by defeating the Melbourne Aces in his three games of the championship series last weekend. In his 13th inning of the third game on Sunday, James McCoen wilded his throw to earn the win, as Perth won 7–6 on him. Melbourne twice led by three runs early in the competition but was unable to keep Perth off the board. Jack Frawley (W, 1-0) went 4 innings, 1 hit and no runs to win the game. Bubby Buzacello (0-2), who played in Austria this summer and had already pitched 3 1/3 innings on Saturday, accepted the loss by saving Jeff Jamnik after throwing a solid eight innings.
Both teams contested 13 innings in Saturday’s second game. Melbourne had a better end to the match as Brad Harman topped off four extra innings with the winning runs in a 3–2 victory. Justin Hoover ended the game for the Aces with a two-run single in the sixth inning. Mitchell Graham scored four goals for Perth. Kevin Reese (won, 2-0) took the win and Ben Grice bore the weight of the loss. On Friday, the Heat celebrated a 4-1 win thanks to a full game by Virgil Vasquez, who was later also named Finals MVP. All three games were broadcast worldwide and fans could watch them on TV or on his ABL website.
