The match between Nicaragua vs Brazil will take place in Estadio Nacional de Panamá (Panama City) on Friday, October 1 at 7:00 PM CEST / 10:30 PM IST / 1:00 PM ET.
At Estadio Nacional Rod Carew in Panama, the qualifying for Panama City is now in progress. The top two teams in this round will join Great Britain and the Czech Republic as participants in the World Baseball Classic in 2019. Brazil, which is trying to qualify for the World Baseball Classic for the first time since 2013, got the Panama qualifier off to a great start by outscoring New Zealand 4-0 in the bottom of the first inning. With a three-run double in the top of the second inning, Max Brown brought New Zealand back into the game, but it was as close as they would come.
Brazil scored two runs on a home run by Tim Lopes, who played for the Mariners in 2019–20 and the Brewers in 2021 before spending 2022 in the Rockies organization. Lopes totaled three runs for the day, one of which came on his brother Christian’s RBI single in the seventh inning of Brazil’s six-run performance. On Saturday at 1 p.m. ET, Brazil will face Nicaragua, and on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, New Zealand will compete in an elimination match against an undetermined opponent.
