In the championship game, the Venezuelan pitcher won for the first time, while Cristian Castillo lost for the first time.
Venezuelan José “Cafecito” Martnez and American Art Charles, both of whom finished 2-for-4 with one RBI, were Yucatan’s top hitters. In the bottom of the second inning, the Lions seized the lead. Two singles by “Cafecito” Martnez and Dominican Cristhian Adames opened the show. Cuban Yadir Drake doubled to center field with two teammates already on base, giving Martnez a 1-0 advantage as he stepped up to the bat.
The Sultanes de Monterrey and the Leones de Yucatán will play in Game 4 of the 2022 King Series on Thursday at Kukulcán lamo Park in Mérida. Due to the severe rain that fell on Tuesday, the meeting could not proceed after the three and a half hours specified by the Mexican Baseball League’s rules were over. As a result, the duel had to be postponed.
