Geelong-Korea will go against Adelaide in the Australia ABL on November 19 at Geelong Baseball Centre. After being absent from the national tournament for two years owing to the COVID-19 outbreak, GEELONG’S Australian Baseball League (ABL) club is making a comeback. The eighth team in the ABL’s organization, Geelong-Korea, which is nearly exclusively made up of Korean players, will participate in the 2022–23 season. The return of Geelong-Korea, according to ABL general manager Paul Gonzalez, is a huge announcement for the league and the City of Greater Geelong. Gonzalez expressed his delight at Geelong-Korea’s return to the team. “They bring a very special international element to the ABL, especially when you consider that the Korean baseball market is likely among the top three worldwide.
So it’s fantastic to have “GK” back in the league for the ABL as well as the other clubs and Geelong. When it was revealed that Geelong-Korea will be making a comeback to the diamond in Geelong, Geelong mayor Peter Murrihy expressed his elation. “We’re thrilled that the Geelong-Korea team will be returning to the Geelong Baseball Centre this summer after a two-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “An international broadcast of the game from Geelong is expected to reach 20 million baseball fans in south-east Asia so this is a fantastic promotional opportunity for our region. The team’s home venue since its inaugural season in 2018/19 will continue to be the Geelong Baseball Centre in Waurn Ponds for the 2022–23 campaign.
