Melbourne will go against Canberra in the Australia ABL on November 26 at Viticon Stadium. The Canberra Cavalry lost their Australian Baseball League match against Auckland Tuatara on Friday night. With Tillman Pugh III singling on the first pitch and the home team scoring three runs, the home club ignited their offense in the first inning. The Cavalry had a three-run advantage going into the eighth and final inning. Rob Emery of Auckland doubled on a 1-and-1 count, driving in two runs. In the last innings, the Visitors scored 5 runs to take the lead and win. The Auckland Tuatara’s pitcher Wei-Chun Weng won the win. In two innings, the bulldog did not allow any hits or runs while also striking out one.
Starting the game for the visitors, Chien Yu allowed three runs on four hits over five innings while striking out five batters while not issuing a walk. As relief pitchers, Jason Blanchard and Elliot Johnstone came in to help finish the game. Blanchard earned the save after getting the final four outs. The Cavalry’s starting pitcher was Nicholas Belzer. Over seven innings, the right-hander gave up one run on seven hits while striking out four. James Reeves, who pitched for Canberra Cavalry, was charged with the defeat after allowing three runs on one hit in one-third of an inning. At the Narrabundah Ballpark, the two teams square off once more on Saturday. The first pitch is thrown at 6 o’clock.
