The Pakistani national baseball team may soon place the nation on the map of the competitive sport. The Pakistani squad is preparing to play in the esteemed World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, where they will face Argentina in their opening game on September 30 in Panama City. The top two teams from the six-nation competition will be invited to the March championship game the following year. Hussain Ansari, manager of player relations and team scout for Pakistan, is optimistic that the national team will be able to earn a spot in the World Baseball Classic.
In addition, Hussain compared baseball with cricket while discussing Pakistan’s elite pitchers. Originally, the Pakistani team was to consist of 14 players. However, only eight were allowed to join the squad because of visa complications. The Pakistani team also included players of Pakistani ancestry from Canada, the United States, and Japan since the federation sought to take advantage of their baseball playing experience abroad.
Pitchers Among the Pakistani contingent’s players to keep an eye on our Adam Khan, Amaan Khan, 16, Shan Sundu, Iyad Ansari, and Zan Von Schlegell, an infielder. Gibran Hamdan, the first player of Pakistani heritage to be selected by a team in the NFL (by Washington in 2003), was also intended to be a member of the squad, but he was disqualified from the competition a few days prior owing to Covid-19. It should be remembered that Pakistan, who had previously lost to both Brazil and Great Britain, was eliminated from their first-ever WBC Qualifier in 2017.
