Indian men’s badminton team secured their second successive win with a 5-0 thrashing of Canada in a Group C tie to qualify for the knock-out round of the Thomas Cup in Bangkok on Monday. India are on top of the Group C standings after having defeated Germany 5-0 in their opening tie on Sunday. India will fight for the top spot when they take on a powerful Chinese Taipei team in the final Group C tie later in the week. Both India and Chinese Taipei have sealed the quarter-final berths. Having sent a strong contingent to Thailand, India are aiming to secure their first ever medal at the prestigious team event. India have never reached the semi-final stage of the competition. Last year, the men’s team signed off its campaign at the quarter-finals.
