Indian shuttler B. Sai Praneeth reached the quarter-finals of Thailand Masters Badminton championship after defeating South Korea’s Jeon Jyeokjin on Thursday. The former BWF World Championship bronze medalist beat Jeon 24-22, 7-21, 22-20 in an hour and 18 minutes. The 30 year-old will face China’s Li Shi Feng in the last -8 stage of the Super 300 tournament on Friday. Meanwhile, Kiran George went down 22-20, 15-21, 20-22 to Hong Kong’s Lee Cheukyiu in his men’s singles last-16 fixture. In the women’s single category, Ashmita Chaliha started off brightly by taking the first game but then lost the next two against Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt in the second round clash. The match went down the wire as both shuttlers gave their absolute best in a marathon deciding game, but eventually the Dane prevailed 21-19, 13-21, 27-29. 

The mixed doubles pair of Ishaan Bhatnager and Tanisha Castro suffered a straight-game 21-9, 21-16 defeat to Indonesia’s Akbar Bintang Cahyono-Marsheilla Gischa Islami in their second round clash. Ishaan pairing with Sai Pratheek, in the mens’ doubles round of 16 clash lost 14-21, 21-18, 24-26 against the Thai duo of Tanadon Punpanich and Wachirawit Sothon. N Sikki Reddy and Rohan Kapoor lost their mixed doubles last-16 match. They went down 11-21, 10-21 to Chinese sixth seeds Huang Dongping and Feng Yanzhe.
